Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, 1963-1983, is a powerful exhibition at the de Young Museum, focusing on art made in two pivotal decades. Docent Alfred Escoffier will share works forged in a crucible of institutionalized racism and codified prejudice that has pervaded America for centuries.
