In the exhibit Impressions in Layered Color, Florez steps away from photo-realism, using collage and impressionistic watercolor techniques to evoke the spirit and essence of the Wasatch landscape. Her layered works of art combine vibrant color, texture, and form, creating a sensory experience that transcends the literal and enters the realm of emotional connection. Some pieces playfully engage the viewer with humor, while others convey the vastness and raw power of the mountains, inviting a deeper reflection on their timeless beauty. This exhibit is an invitation to not only see the Wasatch Front, but to feel it—through color, texture, and the interplay of materials that reveal both the playful and profound nature of the land. You will also view the artist small watercolors works of the same subject matter.
This exhibit invites you to experience the majestic beauty of the Wasatch Front Mountain Range, a stunning natural wonder that stretches from north to south through the heart of Utah, meeting the high desert plains near Nevada's border. The Wasatch’s towering peaks and expansive valleys offer a breathtaking visual presence, and this exhibit captures that awe-inspiring grandeur through the eyes of mixed media artist Veda Florez.
